Peppermint Patti

Hi! My name is Pepermint Patti.
I am an 8 year old Dachshund Chihuahua mix. I was found by a local
animal shelter wandering the streets, and brought to the shelter where
I resided for almost 6 weeks. Everybody loved me, I am incredibly
sweet and get along well with everyone. Everyone that is except cats.

I had many applications come
through on me, but everyone ended up backing out. You see, I have
a mammary tumor. The vet is optimistic that once the tumor is removed
I can go on to live a very good life. It doesn't bother me much at
all, although it is rather large. I get along just fine running with
the other dogs, eating my dinner, and just being a dog. I was rescued
by the great people here at BFFE since it looked like I'd never find
a home of my own. I love the kids at my foster mom's house, and I
even managed to wiggle my way into my foster dad's heart rather quickly.
My surgery will be done soon hopefully, and at this point there is
no reason to believe my life won't be normal.

Once I am fully recovered from
surgery I will be looking for my forever home. I will be at BFFE on
the weekends with my foster mom. Why don't you pop in and visit? There
is nothing I like more than a new person to lavish affection on, and
a warm lap to cuddle in for a snooze.

September 2008 update!!
Patti, has had her surgery and is completely recuperated and ready
to find a home of her own. Her issue turned out to be 2 large intestinal
hernias and NOT tumors, which is wonderful news for Patti. Patti is
doing wonderful in my home. She loves my children (ages 12, 4, and
3 years) and is ok with cats and other dogs, but would prefer to be
the only dog. For the most part she ignores her four legged siblings.
She is using a crate at night, and is out with the family during the
day. She is nearly 100% housebroken and hasn't had an accident in
my home in nearly a week. Her surgery site is completely healed, she
is gaining weight and her hair condition is improving. She will eventually
grow back much of her hair on her back, but for now she wears a t-
shirt. Her ears will most likely remain bald. Patti needs a home with
an available lap, since that is where she wants to be. She is doing
very well in my h ouse and has adjusted to our routine both at home
and at work very well.
